Betty Sims Obituary

Betty Louise Newman Sims age 88 of Jasper passed away Thursday, April 4, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Betty was a member of the Jasper Chapter 124 order of the Eastern Star and a member of Ladds Church of God. While serving, she held every star point office and served as Worthy Matron. She was a devout scholar of the Bible and taught many adult Sunday School classes. She was an avid flower gardener, painter and enjoyed writing a weekly article for the Jasper Journal. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Pascal Sims; children, Patricia L. Smith and Martin Pascal Sims; parents, Charles Martin Newman and Maude Newman; siblings, Velma Bible, Ann Gibson, Katherine Miller, Paul Newman, Sr.; grandsons, Terry R. Smith and Dustin M. Smartt.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Kimberly Denise Sims of Jasper, Mark Douglas Sims of Panama City; sister, Peggy Grimes; grandchildren, Brandon Guinn, Mariah Sims, David Sims, Brett Sims, Cheryl Pieri; great grandchild, Hadley Guinn.

Family will receive friends 3PM-8PM, CST, Saturday, April 6, 2019.

Funeral Service 2PM, CST, Sunday, April 7, 2019 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Joey Newman and Pastor Blake Morrison officiating. Interment to follow at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper.
