Joyce Maralyn Downer 81 of Lookout Valley departed this life Friday, March 24, 2023, and united with her husband and best friend Coolidge Jackson Downer, son Jason Walker Downer, parents, Boyd and Louise Parrish, and sisters Danie Haralson, Linda Hansel and Patty Snap in Heaven.

Prior to Joyce’s retirement from Southern Foundry, she was an accountant for many years.

Joyce had an enormous sense of humor and brought so much laughter into the lives of those around her.  She loved going to Florida for a little family fishing competition or spending time relaxing on the beach. She had a kind heart and was happiest when surrounded by her family. She was a true soulmate to her husband, a strong role model to her children and was cherished by all who knew her. 

Left to treasure her memory are her children, Bill Thompson, Tish Holland, (Gary Downs) Jeff Downer and Lisa Downer (Michael) Murphy, son in law John Holland, brother-in-law Ronny Haralson, sister-in-law Judi Downer Hoell, 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be at Chattanooga Memorial Funeral Home, 144 Browns Ferry Road, Lookout Valley from 2:00 to 4:00, April 15th, 2023. A Celebration of Life Ceremony honoring Joyce and Jack Downer will follow at 4:00. Please bring any pictures or funny stories you’d like to share at the service.
