Ruth "Jab" Vandergriff age 60 of the Pocket Community in Whitwell passed away, Monday, October 10, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar & Ruby Shrum; sisters, Edna Vandergriff, Elouise Layne; niece, Jessie Sweeton; nephew, Mack McPherson.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of 30 years, Dave Vandergriff of Whitwell; children, Wayne (Crystal) Layne, Jr. of Whitwell, Bryan (Augusta) Vandergriff of Gruetti-Laager, Kayla (J.C.) Vandergriff of Whitwell; sisters, Louise Rollins of Palmer, Polly Nolan of Whitwell, Loretta Vandergriff of Whitwell; brother, Roy (Diane) Shrum Whitwell; grandchildren, Gabreil Layne, Kaitlyn Layne, Peyton Layne, Caleb Layne, Dean Nunley, Cheyenne Nunley, Alexzander Vandergriff, Malachi Vandergriff, Kendra Layman, Devin Layman, Trevor Vandergriff;
great grandchildren, Addison Layne, Braylen Layne, Tinsley Layne.

Family will receive friends starting 9AM Wednesday, 10/12/2016 and Thursday, 10/13/2016 at Pine Hill Sportman's Club.

Graveside Service at 1PM, Friday at Griffith Creek Cemetery with Rev. Sam Long officiating. Interment to follow.
